Summertime is a great time to get out and shake up your workout routine. Enjoy the long days by taking a nice run outside or join a baseball team. Whatever you enjoy doing to stay fit, we have some tips for you. ;If you are just starting up an exercise routine or even if you have been exercising regularly, be careful with the summer heat.

Hydrate ;

Remember to drink water! This is the most important thing you can do to keep your body happy this summer. Stay hydrated and maintain the salt/water balance by drinking lots of liquids. Try easing into summer. Generally adapt to the heat before hitting it at full force. It also helps to dress the part. Wear clothing that will facilitate cooling by evaporate. Lightweight, light colored clothing with breathable fabric is best for keeping you cool in these summer months. Keeping hydrated will lessen your chances of heat exhaustion. Some of the signs of heat exhaustion are headaches, heavy sweating, cold chills, dizziness, muscle cramps, and nausea. ;

Sun Protection

Sunscreen is also a must if you are outside. Protect yourself from burns and sun damage. Even on cloudy days your skin needs protection. It is recommended to use a sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30. If you know you will be out for a long period of time, consider covering up as well. Wear a hat to protect your face from the sun or wear a long sleeve breathable shirt to protect your arms and shoulders. ;
