As an athlete, one of the most common setbacks are injuries, and depending on their severity, they can keep you from training from a couple of days to weeks and even months. Fortunately, there are many things you can do to prevent this situation, in fact certain injuries can be relatively easy to avoid. Stretch

It’s no secret that your muscles need to be ready for physical activity. However, you should stay away from static stretching exercises, as studies suggest that this type of activity will impair your performance and even lead to injuries. Instead, you should focus on dynamic warm-up like fast paced walks or riding your bike for a few minutes before your training, and don’t forget to cool down afterwards. 

Overtraining

It’s important that you take things slowly and allow your body to rest after every training session. Remember that you will be building up strength and stamina increasely. Otherwise you may suffer from overuse injuries like split shins or knee injuries. Remember to stay hydrated before, during and after your training and don’t forget choosing healthy foods. 

Shoes

Keep in mind that there are several options in the market and you will have chose those shoes that adapt to your needs. You can find out your biomechanics in specialized shoe shops and focus on the comfort. Also, try rotating shoes to increase your foot strength.
