Are You Stretching Before and After Your Workouts?

When it comes to your workout routine, it’s pretty safe to say that stretching isn’t anywhere to be seen. And why would it, right? After all, it’s not really the most exciting activity and it doesn’t really have any benefits. Right?

If you aren’t stretching before and after each session, Athletic Republic Toledo has a post which will change that!

1.- It doesn’t matter how often you get up and collect your printing from the machine, if the majority of your time at work is spent sitting at a desk and working in front of a computer then your muscles will becomes locked and tense. Stretching is the best way to release any locked muscles and tension and prepare your muscles for what’s ahead.

2.- While you might not think about it, there is a range of muscles in your body which act in a supporting role for your workouts. For example, if you are lifting weights then your legs need to be primed and ready to support your correct posture. Stretching is a great way to prepare these muscles to help prevent injury.

3.- Once your workouts are completed, it’s important that you also stretch your whole body. Stretching after a workout promotes the flow of blood and oxygen to your muscles, working to activate the recovery process and help you to recover faster.

4.- Of course, in addition to starting the recovery process, stretching after your workouts also reducing the amount of lactic acid which can build up, causing you to feel like you are never going to walk without pain or lift a cup of coffee again.
